History of C Language

C programming language was developed by Dennis Ritchie at bell laboratories of American Telephone & Telegraph located in the U.S.A. in 1972.

It was developed to overcome the problems of previous languages such as BCPL , B etc.

Initially, C language was developed to be used in UNIX operating system, and It inherits many features of previous languages such as BCPL language and B language.

The root of all modern languages is ALGOL was the first computer language. introduced in the early 1960. Although it never became popular in USA. It was widely used in Europe. ALGOL language gave the concept of structured programming to the computer science community.

For many years, C language was used mainly in academic environments, but eventually with the release of many C Language compilers for commercial use and the increasing popularity of UNIX. Today, C language is running under a variety of operating system and hardware platforms.
